The Plant Education Research Initiative is a global research and networking initiative seeking to animate an accessible and informed public debate on alternative education that allows students to study plant life as part of their curriculum. In particular, it examines horticultural techniques, plant biology, soil science, while providing coordination, financing and governance of education.

PERI is aimed at anyone who interested in privatization in education and is a growing network of education researchers, teachers, plant biologists, horticulturalists, scientists, policy analysts and policy-makers from around the world coming together to discuss these issues face to face and on-line.
